Forward UDP Telemetry to other applications or Devices

Games use different technologies to provide access to their telemetry data. If a game uses UDP based Telemetry (like Codemasters games), this telemetry can often only sent to one receiver directly from the game.
If you want to use the telemetry data simultaneously for SIM Dashboard AND another application (like SimVibe) read on!

Forward UDP Telemetry Tab

Select the Forward UDP Telemetry Tab in the SIM Dashboard PC Application, then click on Add UDP Receiver.

Add UDP Receiver

Now begin by selecting the game whose UDP Telemetry you like to forward.

If your desired game is not in the list, it probably does not use UDP Telemetry, so forwarding is NOT required.

Then enter the destination IP Address.

If the other application runs on the same PC, enter 127.0.0.1

Continue with entering the port on which the other application listens for data.

Important: A Port can only be used by exactly one application, that is the reason why the forwarding is required in the first place. That means the second/third/etc. application must be configured to another Port than SIM Dashboard. This port, that the other application is configured to has to be entered into the Dialog from the Screenshot

Optional: You can enter a comment to later identify this UDP Forward item more easily.

Confirm the Dialog with a press on OK. UDP Telemetry is now forwarded to this receiver!

Some Examples

Scenario 1

  • You are running DiRT Rally 2.0 (or another game with UDP Telemetry) on your PC
  • You have two application that require data
    • SIM Dashboard
    • Any other application that needs the data (e.g. for your Motion Seat) that has an Option to specify a custom Port

Do these steps to forward the data:

  1. Open the SIM Dashboard PC Application
  2. Select the Games Tab
  3. Select DiRT Rally 2.0 (or your game of choice) from the List
  4. On the right side enter the Port, that you like SIM Dashboard to listen on (e.g. 20777 => the default)
  5. Click on Save Config
  6. If the game is not(!) yet configured, click on Modify game config for telemetry
  7. The game has now a green check mark for the configuration
  8. Open the other Application that needs to receive data as well
  9. Search for the Option to specify a Port, where it listens for Data (of DiRT Rally 2.0 or your game of choice) and change it to 20778 (a Port that is not(!) the one you entered in SIM Dashboard)
  10. Don't click on any button in the other application that automatically updates the Game configuration, otherwise it overrides the configuration and it won't work
  11. If the other application shows an indicator for the configuration status, this indicator will tell you that there is a problem. Don't think about that any further, the application does not receive data from the game, but from SIM Dashboard. It cannot know that. So instead leave it as it is and continue
  12. Open the Forward UDP Telemetry Tab of the SIM Dashboard PC Application
  13. Click on Add UDP Receiver
  14. Select
  • Game: DiRT Rally 2.0 (or your game of choice)
  • IP Address: 127.0.0.1
  • Port: 20778 (the one that you configured in the other application)
  • Comment: Name of the Application
  • Confirm with OK.
  1. Start the game and have fun.

If you want to add another application, do the same steps, but enter a third port in the other application (e.g. 20779) and in the UDP Forwarding Dialog of SIM Dashboard.

Scenario 2

  • You are running DiRT Rally 2.0 (or another game with UDP Telemetry) on your PC
  • You have two application that require data
    • SIM Dashboard
    • Any other application that needs the data (e.g. for your Motion Seat) that has no(!) Option to specify a custom Port

Do these steps to forward the data:

  1. Open the SIM Dashboard PC Application
  2. Select the Games Tab
  3. Select DiRT Rally 2.0 (or your game of choice) from the List
  4. On the right side enter the Port, that you like SIM Dashboard to listen on (e.g. 20778 => not the default)
  5. Click on Save Config
  6. If the game is not(!) yet configured, click on Modify game config for telemetry
  7. The game has now a green check mark for the configuration
  8. Make sure that the other application has no option to configure the Port. If its possible to change the port, refer to Scenario 1. If it cannot be changed it will listen on Port 20777 for Codemasters Games. Don't click on any button in the other application that automatically updates the Game configuration, otherwise it overrides the configuration and it won't work
  9. If the other application shows an indicator for the configuration status, this indicator will tell you that there is a problem. Don't think about that any further, the application does not receive data from the game, but from SIM Dashboard. It cannot know that. So instead leave it as it is and continue
  10. Open the Forward UDP Telemetry Tab of the SIM Dashboard PC Application
  11. Click on Add UDP Receiver
  12. Select
  • the Game: DiRT Rally 2.0 (or your game of choice)
  • IP Address: 127.0.0.1
  • Port: 20777 (the one that the other application is listening on)
  • Comment: Name of the Application
  • Confirm with OK.
  1. Start the game and have fun.
