Assetto Corsa

The telemetry of Assetto Corsa is enabled by default. Extended data readout requires an additional Mod/App. The SIM Dashboard Server application should already be installed. The application supports you with an automatic configuration feature which can enable telemetry of Assetto Corsa easily. More on that in the following tutorial.

If you are wondering why the game already works without configuration: Most of the game data can be retrieved without any configuration, but special data like the names and driven distances of the other drivers require the following configuration.

The SIM Dashboard App gives you additional gauges for your favorite PC, PS4 & XBOX SIM Racing games. Select from more than 200 customizable widgets and create your personal display. Tachometer, Steering wheel display or timing screen, everything is possible, it's up to you.

Overview

This screenshot shows the Interface of the SIM Dashboard Server application. Click on the tab Games to get the shown view. Make sure that the entry Assetto Corsa is selected in the list.

  1. The red X shows that Assetto Corsa is currently not configured
  2. The Info section shows the detected Mod directory of the game, if the mod is installed and if the mod is activated

If you see a textbox to select the game installation path instead

You either dont have the game or you haven't installed it through Steam, in this case, select the game folder manually using the Textbox

  1. This button sets the Assetto Corsa configuration, so that it provides data for the SIM Dashboard Server application (Assetto Corsa must be closed when using this button).

Automatic configuration

This part of the tutorial is dedicated to the automatic configuration, which should always be tried first, because its much easier than the manual configuration.

Perform automatic configuration

Make sure that Assetto Corsa is currently not running but was started at least once!

Click on the button Modify game config for telemetry (1).
The application updates the configuration of Assetto Corsa afterwards.

Automatic configuration finished

If everything worked as expected, a confirmation message (1) appears, the list shows the correct configuration (2) (with a green checkmark) and the button for the automatic configuration (3) on the right side is hidden, the status info shows that everything is setup correctly.

You can now start Assetto Corsa and receive data in the SIM Dashboard Android App. Remember, that the SIM Dashboard Server application must be running while your are playing the game!

You see a blue question mark instead?

If you see a blue question mark (1) instead of a green checkmark, the Mod Activation needs to be performed manually. The Status Info shows that the Mod is not yet activated (2).

Start the Game, then navigate to Options -> General -> UI Modules and tick the SimDashboard App Entry (shown on the second screenshot).

If you cannot see the SimDashboard Entry in the game, you have not installed the mod to the correct subfolder, read the instructions about Copy the mod (further below) carefully.

Now everything is ready and the SIM Dashboard Android App can receive the data.

Manual configuration

This part of the tutorial is optional and should only be performed if the automatic configuration failed for some reason.

Open Plugins folder

Open the installation path of the SIM Dashboard Server application, Default is: C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMDashboardServer

Open the subfolder Plugins and afterwards the subfolder AssettoCorsa, navigate through the subfolders apps and python.

Copy the mod

Now copy the folder SimDashboard into the apps\python subfolder of your Assetto Corsa game directory.

The apps\python directory on a default installation is YourSteamFolder\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\apps\python

If you have a non default installation folder, you need to copy the mod to the apps\python subfolder of this installation instead.

Activate the mod in the game

After starting Assetto Corsa you need to activate the Mod in the game, so data can be read out.

Navigate to Options -> General -> UI Modules and tick the SimDashboard App Entry.

If you cannot see the SimDashboard Entry in the game, you have not installed the mod to the correct subfolder, read the instructions about Copy the mod again carefully.

Now everything is ready and the SIM Dashboard Android App can receive the data.
