Forward UDP Telemetry to other applications or Devices

What UDP Forwarding can do for you:

  • Send the data from a game with UDP Telemetry to more than one receiver
  • Run multiple SIM Dashboard devices at the same time
  • Use Telemetry data within SIM Dashboard AND another application (like your Motion Seat with SimVibe or others)

This page explains UDP Forwarding for Playstation/Xbox Gamers

If you are playing on the PC, have a look at this help page instead: Forward UDP Telemetry of PC Games

Games (on Consoles) that use UDP Telemetry which can be forwarded

  • F1 2020
  • F1 2019
  • F1 2018
  • F1 2017
  • F1 2016
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • Forza Motorsport 7

  • All other supported Games on consoles do not require forwarding, because they support multiple receivers by default:
    • Project Cars 2
    • Project Cars 1
    • MotoGP 18
    • Assetto Corsa 1

  • For Games on the PC have a look here: Forward UDP Telemetry of PC Games

Steps to send data of the game to multiple devices / applications

  1. First of all, learn how to setup the game properly, so you receive data from the game on your first device
  2. Open the Settings of the App and Add a Forwarding Receiver as explained below
    • Select the Game in that Dialog, whose data you like to forward
    • Enter the Ip Address of the Receiver and the Port where the other Application is listening on
  3. The App that receives data from the game is now forwarding it to the second application/device, so two applications can run simultaneously

Configure UDP Forwarding

  1. Open the Settings of the App
  2. Select the General Tab
  3. Click on Configure UDP Forwarding

If the Option is grayed out, make sure that you have selected your platform PS4/PS5/Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S in Settings -> General -> Select your gaming platforms

If you are playing on the PC, have a look at this help page instead: Forward UDP Telemetry of PC Games

Overview

The UDP Forwarding Dialog allows you to:

  • See your own IP Address (if you are connected to a network)
  • Add a new UDP Receiver
  • See the list of UDP Forwarding Receivers (empty if you haven't specified any)
  • The Help button which opens this page

Click on ADD UDP RECEIVER if you like to forward UDP Data of your Game from the App to another App or Device.

Add Receiver

To add a receiver:

  1. Select the Game
  2. Enter the Ip Address of the Receiver, for example:
    • If you are sending data to another SIM Dashboard Device: Enter the Ip Address that is shown on the Forwarding Dialog of the other Device
    • If you are sending data to another hardware device: Enter it's Ip Address here
    • If the application is running on the same Android device: Enter 127.0.0.1 for the Ip Address
  3. The port, where the other application listens on
    • Sometimes the port where the other application is listening on can be configured. Make sure to enter the port that is shown in the application that you want to send data to
    • Short instructions for certain Games: (detailed Examples for certain Games at the end of the page)
      • For F1 2016 - F1 2020 the default port is 20777
      • If you are forwarding data of Forza Horizon 4 to a second Sim Dashboard Device the default port is 5685
      • If you are forwarding data of Forza Motorsport 7 to a second Sim Dashboard Device the default port is 4843
  • only one application can listen at a port
    • if you enter the Ip Address of your own device 127.0.0.1 or the local network adapter Ip you cannot specify a port that is already in use by the App, otherwise it would result in an endless loop, where messages are forwarded to itself over and over again
  1. Optional: A comment
  2. Optional: Change the format of the data (requires the PRO Version for certain Games and Formats)

Confirm with OK once you entered everything

Make sure that the ip address of the receiver device always stays the same. If the ip address changes, you must update it here as well.

For more info, refer to this help page: Forwarding WiFi IP changed

UDP Forwarding Entry

Once you added an UDP Forwarding Entry you can view it in the list.

  1. Shows the Game, whose data is forwarded
  2. The Ip Address of the Receiver (where the data is sent to)
  3. The Port, on which the Receiver application is listening on
  4. The Format of the data that is sent
  5. The Status is one of these
    • Game not running
    • Forwarding
      • The app is receiving data and is forwarding it to the specified receiver
    • Waiting for data
      • The game is started, but not all data is received yet. E.g. if you are playing F1 by Codemasters and you are in a Multiplayer Lobby and not in a Race yet
    • Already forwared
      • The data that is received by the app does not come from the Game, but is forwarded by another Sim Dashboard App instance
      • Due to performance reasons chaining of forwarding (Device A -> Device B -> Device C) is not intended, add all receivers (Device B and C) on Device A (PRO Feature)
    • Inactive
      • See below
  6. Edit the Entry
  7. Delete the Entry

Inactive Entries

An entry that is currently inactive is grayed out and shows the Status Inactive

You can click on the entry to see the reason, why the entry is not active

Possible reasons why an Entry is inactive:

  • Invalid Ip Address
    • The entered Ip Address is not valid. Click on the Edit Icon (Pen) and correct the Ip Address
  • The Ip Address is a Broadcast Address (ends with .255)
    • Broadcasts are not supported by UDP Forwarding
    • This would end in an endless loop, because the app would receive it's own data and forward it over and over again
  • The entered port is invalid
    • Valid range is from 1024-65535
    • If the Target Ip Address is 127.0.0.1 (e.g. the app is configured to send data to another port on the Android device itself), the entered port cannot be one of the ports that the app uses, because they are used for other communication tasks already
  • The game is unsupported
    • The game of the forwarding entry is unsupported. For example if you entered a forwarding entry for Forza Horizon 4 and later changed your Gaming Platform in the Settings of the App from Xbox One to PS4 (where the game is not available).
    • Check the selected gaming platforms in Settings -> General -> Select your gaming platforms
  • Format Change requires the Pro Version
    • You want to change the Format of the data (e.g. F1 2020 Data should be forwarded as F1 2017), but you don't own the Pro Version for F1 2020 or the whole App
  • More than one Forwarding Receiver for a Game
    • If you want to send data from one Game (e.g. F1 2020) to more than one Receiver you need the Pro Version for F1 2020 or the whole App
  • Two entries are the same
    • You configured two entries for the same Game with the same Ip Address and Port
    • To prevent that the other application receives the data twice, one of them is disabled
